Over the Garden Wall
SOLD March 2013 |
Roughly CDV-size tintype circa 1890 showing two young couples peeking up from behind a painted stone wall, emblazoned "OVER THE GARDEN-WALL". A tintype with a mysterious symbol at the root of it, well understood by the participants but now a mystery to us. Was the garden wall meant as a symbol of courtship? Print size 3.25 x 2.5 inches (8x6 cm).
Light bends and wear.
