Engaging European quarter plate ambrotype giving an unusual view of little girl with headless doll and other implements, in a backyard garden setting. Housed in period reverse-painted glass mount, resealed with new backing materials. Visible area of image about 4 x 3.25 inches (10x8 cm), dimensions of mount overall about 6 x 5 inches (15x13 cm).   ( Inventory# id557 )

In this intimate view, probably taken in courtyard or alleyway, a basket is seen in background and probably laundry hanging above it, as a sunlit passageway seems to draw our eye off further into the distance.

Some imperfections in cover glass, including aging in the reverse painted areas.
