The World in Blue
SOLD December 2015 |
Group of three rare CDV-format cyanotypes circa 1885 by an unidentified, probably American amateur. Including two portraits in front of a pear tree and another strangely reversed and inscribed image of a mustached gent in profile probably the photographer.
Interesting group from an amateur photographer who produced CDVs in both albumen and cyanotype format.
The tonally-reversed image of man is intriguing, perhaps produced from a paper cyanotype negative, white handwriting beneath the portrait appears to read "After looking in the glass five minuits." This image has some surface wear, the others are in near-mint condition.
Images found in group that included another dated "1887" on reverse, and appear to be from the same era.
