Early "square-cut" quarter plate daguerreotype of an attractive young couple, anonymous American ca. 1845. Housed in a full leather case with repaired spine, some sprung corners, and exterior wear. With light hand-coloring in pink as well as hand-pricking to simulate the glitter of jewelry.
This lovely image is in the less common (and usually early) square-cut quarter plate format, very slightly wider, and about 1/4 inch shorter, than standard quarter-plates. Some light mat abrasions.
