Quarter plate daguerreotype by an unidentified German daguerreotypist. Resealed in original passe-partout mount, dimensions 5 x 6 inches (15x13 cm). Inscribed in pencil on reverse "Onkel Fritz-Dommerich / Tante Charlotte / Daughter Charlotte Freytag".   ( Inventory# ed117 )

Originally heavily tarnished, this plate received a mild, non-degrading electrolytic cleaning. A remainder of light haze remains visible around edges. This daguerreotype's plate bears the hallmark "W. HERRMANN Co." and "BERLIN" along one of its shorter edges.
