Cabinet-card format albumen print showing a dapper sewing machine salesman with his wares, by William M. Comb, Muskegon, Michigan, circa 1885. Card imprinted front "Wm. M. Comb / Muskegon, Mich."   ( Inventory# id539 )

Crisp detail allows us to see every facett of the machines this well-dressed "drummer" seems ready to demonstrate, a full case of sewing heads or other parts at the right and what appear to be patterns or samples on floor below. His hat is jauntily tossed on side of machine, as if he has just stepped into the room. He appears the quintessential dapper salesman from Hollywood central casting.

Image in superb condition.
