Cabinet-card format albumen print showing three employees and storefront of the "H. S. Tanner" watch and jewelry shop, Albany NY, one bright morning in 1886. With photographer's imprint verso reading "...Cash must accompany all orders. E. W. Cook, Artist, Albany, New York" and inscribed in pen "Papa - Hopkins - a watch maker 1886".
Signage visible in image includes "H. S. Tanner 40", "Spectacles and Eye-Glasses" and "Herbert S. Tanner / Jewelry / Diamonds, Watches, Clocks, Etc.".
A clock face visible in window indicates the photograph was taken at 9:37 AM. Portions of the buildings across the street are reflected in the storefront's window, including a standing man who appears to observe the photograph being taken. (He is reflected in window above the "Herbert" in window sign.)
The image is in excellent condition with strong tones.
